Box 4 contains a wide variety of small collections: church records, school attendance lists, naturalization dates, Danish Brotherhood membership, members of the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic, a fraternal order of Union soldiers) and more.
Included here from VIG-996, Box 2, Packet 5. Records of St. john's church: financial; baptisms; confirmations; burials. Also includes a history of the church, which was where the Blair Synod (forerunner of UELC) was founded "The Forgotten Birthplace" from The Ansgar Lutheran of July 20, 1959.

Owners are listed geographically by Township, then by Section and portion of section.
'Men and Women of Nebraska' was published in 1903. A copy is available at the Blair NE Public Library. The first nine scans list the Washington County persons mentioned in it along with the page numbers on which they can be found. The rest of the scans consist of notes made by Einar Vig of the entries in the book.
Presumably these were the typical 'General Store' that provided necessities in the rural communities.
The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization made up of former soldiers of the Union Army during the War of the Rebellion of 1861-1865.
